My goals for this blog

In order to be more focused on what content will go on this blog, I think it would be wise for me to summarize my goals for this blog.

1. Have accessible, informative, articles on various topics in mathematics: The high school curriculum in math is, to put it bluntly, absolutely awful. It gives students a false impression of what mathematics is really about, making it about tricks and formulas. My goal is to write posts about various subjects and examples in mathematics to act against that impression. Additionally, I want to do that in a way that doesn’t take shortcuts (e.g, not only show a cool example but explain why it works) and requires little to no background knowledge (I will write what background knowledge is needed before each post). My inspirations for this goal are 3blue1brown, Mathologer, and PBS Infinite series (which sadly is no more).

2. Write in an engaging, humorous and entertaining way: From my personal experience as a TA, inserting humor into my lessons makes them a whole lot entertaining for both me and the students, and keeps them more engaged for the important parts of the lesson. This is why I include doodles in each post, both to help in visualization and to add humor (ironically, this post has no humor, but this in itself is a bit humorous, paradox). My inspirations for this goal are Math with Bad Drawings, Vi Hart, and others.

3. Connect with readers and others over shared love for math: I want to connect with readers and other math content creators. That’s pretty much it.

I am currently aiming for weekly\bi-weekly posts until the end of October. I start grad school and working as a TA at the end of October so I will probably not have much time for posts then. The next post is done and will be uploaded in monday.
